LawHelp helps low and moderate income people find free legal aid programs in their communities, and answers to questions about their legal rights.

National Legal Aid and Defender Association (NLADA)
This organization advocates for and provides resources and training to front-line attorneys and other equal justice professionals working for low-income clients and communities. NLADA also serve as a resource for those seeking more information on equal justice in the United States.

Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law
The Shriver Center helps deliver legal services to low-income clients by creating a network of legal services and pro bono lawyers, policymakers, and other advocates working on poverty law and policy development. The Center's publications, Poverty Law Library, and Web site equip advocates with tools and strategies to promote policy and law to move people permanently out of poverty.

National Health Law Program (NHeLP)
NHeLP is a national public interest law firm that seeks to improve health care for America's working and unemployed poor, minorities, the elderly and people with disabilities. This firm serves legal services programs, community-based organizations, the private bar, providers and individuals who work to preserve a health care safety net for the millions of uninsured or underinsured low-income people. NHeLP does not provide legal advice to individuals.

Local Organizations

Pine Tree Legal Assistance
This non-profit corporation provides legal assistance to low-income people in Maine, but the site also includes resources of use to those outside the state, such as PTLA's links page and a list of pro bono sites for organizations across the United States.

New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI)
NYLPI is a not-for-profit legal office that helps tackle the problems facing low-income and underrepresented people in New York City. The office uses two approaches: its pro bono clearinghouse works with law firms and corporate legal departments to provide free legal assistance for eligible individuals and community groups, and its staff provides direct legal representation, advocacy, and organizing assistance to low-income New Yorkers in the areas of disability rights, environmental justice, and access to health care.

Tenants Union of Washington State
For legal help related to tenants rights, consult the Tenant's Union website or hotline. If they don't have an answer, they may know who to call in your area.

Northwest Justice Project
NJP is a not-for-profit statewide organization that provides free civil legal services to low-income people in Washington State. This website, along with its Washington LawHelp project, also serves as a clearinghouse of legal self-help materials and tools that provide information about non criminal legal problems affecting low-income people in Washington state.

Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles
This frontline law firm for low-income people promotes access to justice and the strengthening of communities, combats discrimination, and effects systemic change through representation, advocacy, and community education.
